It is a very strong dye that was first used for dyeing cotton.  <\/span>Shortly after its discovery, it became apparent that the substance not only dyes textiles, but also selectively enriches and stains biological structures &#8211; in particular cell components, nerve cells and bacteria. This marked the beginning of methylene blue&#8217;s career in histology and microscopy, where it is still used today as a contrast agent. <\/p><p>Even before antibiotics or modern antiviral therapies were developed, methylene blue was used in medicine &#8211; for the treatment of <b>malaria<\/b>, among other things. In fact, it was one of the first synthetic drugs in modern pharmaceutical history.  In the 1890s it was used with considerable success against the malaria pathogens, long before <b>chloroquine<\/b> or modern active ingredients (such as MMS &#8211; <b>chlorine dioxide<\/b>) were available.  <br><br><b>By the way: Chloroquine and hydroxychloroquine are based on MB.<br><br>Methylene blue has a fascinating range both in optimizing the body of healthy people (biohacking) and in the treatment of diseases.
