While half the world is self-promotingly pouring buckets of ice water over their heads to seemingly become fundraisers for ALS research, promising solutions have long been available. Sodium chlorite has been registered as a medicinal product in the Community Register of Orphan Medicinal Products under Number EU/3/13/1139 since 19/6/2013.
It appears to stop the progression of ALS (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis) in the treatment of the disease.
